Connecting Wood Floors Between Rooms

Home / Bedroom Floors / Connecting Wood Floors Between Rooms

For homeowners with wood flooring in multiple rooms, you understand the struggle of ensuring a smooth transition between each room.

Typically, this is done by installing a T-molding or wooden spline. A T-molding is a raised piece of wood that is installed in doorways to connect the wood flooring in each room. Alternatively, a wooden spline is a single piece of wood that is used in place of a T-molding to keep the entire floor on one even level.

Lately we’ve seen some home owners getting creative with how they connect the wood flooring between rooms. One trend that has really caught our attention is the use of colourful tile in place of a T-molding or wooden spline.

Do you think this is a trend that will catch on or should home owners stick with the classic options?
