Natural Cleaners for Your Vinyl Floor

Vinyl floors can be sensitive to cleaners, so be very careful about what you use on them. We recommend using the cleaners we have in store, but we know that’s not realistic for everyone. No matter what you use to wash vinyl floor, make sure it’s mild. Here are some natural cleaners that are safe for your vinyl floors.

Warm water
For regular cleaning, just use warm water. It will pick up most of the dirt on and is gentle on the floor. Unless you absolutely need heavier cleaner, we recommend you stick to warm water.

Apple Cider Vinegar
For heavier jobs, add a small amount of apple cider vinegar to the warm water. This is better than soap because it won’t leave residue on the floor that can cause damage.

Dish Soap
If you have some dirt on your floor that won’t budge, add some dish soap to your warm water. Use this very sparingly. You only need a few drops, and adding more can be hard on the floor. Make sure that if you use dish soap you rinse it with the warm water and apple cider vinegar mixture to get rid of the residue.

Baby Oil
For extra shine, add a few drops of baby oil to warm water. Again, adding more than a few drops can be hard on your floor and leave a greasy residue.

Baking Soda
For stains only, mix baking soda and water. Gently rub the mixture on the stain and rinse with warm water. If this mixture won’t remove the stain, you should purchase a stain remover designed specifically for vinyl floors.
